Gay sex bar Stahlrohr is two in its new location, Paul-Robeson Strasse 50, Prenzlauer Berg, this Friday. On the second Fridays of the month it opens at 22:00 and it's normally a slave market. This night Becks is 1€ a bottle until 02:00. Happy birthday!

PRENZLAUERBERG UPDATE

On Saturday DD was avoiding the tourists at Snax and went up to Prenzlauerberg for a quick tour of the local gay bars and clubs. Greifbar was empty at 10.30 so we walked down to Danziger Strasse and stopped outside BT club which opened a year ago. A notice outside says "Opening times Fridays and Saturdays 11pm-5am Gay dance party or other event". They used to be open every night of the week. How much longer will they last? We waited in a busy straight bar in Kastanien Allee until midnight and then walked back up to the naked sex party in the new Stahlrohr. There were about 50 punters there, ages 30 and up. Frankly there wasn't much sex going on for a naked sex party. Stahrohr moved to their new location in December "because the new place is bigger" according to the barman. There is a bigger darkroom, they have dispensers for free condoms AND lube, they have done a major redecoration and the toilets were among the cleanest and best we've seen in Berlin.

Stahlrohr has moved

We don't hang out in Prenzlauerberg much and we hadn't noticed that Stahlrohr has moved. Remember Die Neu Sonne / The Midnight Sun which briefly became Blackbox before closing last June? Well, Stahlrohr, or Stahlrohr 2.0 as they like to be known now, has moved into the vacated premises. Diffent place, same routine: Monday: Pants or tops; Tuesdays Youngsters; Wednesdays: Topless 2-4-1; Thursdays Underwear / naked / Fetish; Fridays underwear; Saturday naked sex party; Sunday: Fist and fuck. We hope they don't fall foul of the same curse as their predecessors. Stahlrohr - DD Review

Stahlror is an unashamed gay sex bar. We visited it on a Thursday for the "Underwear, Naked, Fetish" night. It was underwear or naked and, sadly, there weren't too many people there (15?). However, the people who were there made up for it in quality. The bar man Stefan was very lively and friendly. We should have tried Greifbar too which is just across the road and we hear is popular.

The darkroom is well equipped and they have condoms and lube, and even disinfectant spray so that you can wipe down the surfaces before you use them.

April 2009 update: Stahlrohr has moved to Paul-Robeson-Str. 50. They've now got more space and the conveniences are as good as ever. See more recent report HERE.
