MURDER IN MARIENDORF

Gay man Carsten Srock, who we reported missing five days ago, was murdered. Srock had been missing since doing a shift at Boiler Sauna on 1st January. A member of the public became suspicious and reported a 43 year old who lived in Markgrafenstrasse Mariendorf. The police visited and discovered him with self inflicted knife wounds and they found the corpse of Srock. The man has been arrested.

Bild newspaper reported today that the corpse had been chopped up. The police have not confirmed it.

ADS / JOSEF / CHEZ JACKI IN DECEMBER

SEA OF LIGHT AT WITTENBERGPLATZ

To remember World AIDS day and those who have died of AIDS, the Regenbogenfonds are having a sea of light memorial at Wittenbergplatz with 2000 candles at 19:00 on Wednesday 30 November.  A Berliner Aids-Hilfe procession starting from Meinekestrasse 12 at 18:00 will arrive there about the same time. Bring a candle!

DEATH IN BULL #2

January 2010 we reported a death in Bull Berlin's reckless after hour gay sex bar. And last Tuesday they had another. A source close to the event told us that they were sitting next to this man who appeared to fall asleep on a sofa. Click the headline for the full story. The man snored once and his head dropped. Falling asleep is a common event in Bull, it might even be called a hotel and the sleepers are not usually disturbed except by sex maniacs and the cleaner.

GAY=PERVERT=MURDERER

Well that's the implication of an article on bild.de in their sensational reporting of a double murder at a south German gay cruising area a year ago. After 17 years marriage, Renate's husband Detlef was charged with the murders of Heiko (pic) and Friedrich. He's gay, he like sex toys, he's a murderer. Er, we're not all like that. GAY MEMORIAL

Tomorrow 13 April at 13.30 a memorial plaque will be unveiled by Senator Dr. Ehrhart Körting and police president Dieter Glietsch at the police station in Moritzstrasse 10, Spandau. It commemorates the death of four gay policemen there on 24 April 1945 at the end of WWII. Officers Otto Jordan, Reinhold Höpfner, Willi Jenoch and Bautz were arrested, shot and buried at the barracks as it was that day. There is also an exhibition on persecution of gays in the Nazi period in Spandau town hall until April 21. It will tell their story.

MARIA TO CLOSE

Maria is to join Bar 25 and other party venues on the banks of the Spree in central Berlin in oblivion. It never was a gay club but it had a great vibe (usually) with great dancing and great electro and techno. They have a closing weekend 20th and 21st May and will party on right up to the closing date. Click the headline for their closing message in Geman.

STAGE CLUB TO CLOSE

Gay Berlin sex club Stage is to close after almost four years. They are having their last party on Saturday night 12 Feb. It's a giveaway with shots and alcohol free drinks 1€, beers 2€ and long drinks 3€. Entry from 21:00 to 23:00 then get down to drunken sex. Stage club was much loved for it's 'Coffee and Cream' parties. When asked if they were bareback parties, staff denied it.

Before that there's a masked sex party tonight, Sneakers and Sports tomorrow and Fist and Fuck on Friday.

When discodamaged phoned owner Thomas Katt to ask why they are closing, he simply said, "We're not getting enough guests." Let's hope they get a few extra for their closing sex party. Stage club is / was at Nassauische Str. 36, 10717 Berlin-Wilmersdorf.

GAY ACTIVIST MURDERED

"An outspoken Ugandan gay activist whose picture recently appeared in an anti-gay newspaper under the headline “Hang Them” was beaten to death in his home, Ugandan police said on Thursday", the International Herald Tribune reports.

The paper says "David Kato, the activist, was one of the most visible defenders of gay rights in a country so homophobic that government leaders have proposed to execute gay people. Mr. Kato and other gay people in Uganda had recently warned that their lives were endangered, and four months ago a local paper called Rolling Stone published a list of gay people, and Mr. Kato’s face was on the front page."

It wasn't always this way in Uganda.  Homophobia has been whipped up by an American hate preacher who runs anti-gay rallies where murdering gays is openly encouraged.

Local thugs (that's the police), who offered Kato no protection, claim his murder wasn't homophobic - they'd previously said he could bring his death upon himself by flaunting his evil ways.

RALF REGITZ DEAD

Ralf Regitz organizer of Love Parade and founder of Techno club e-werk in Berlin Mitte is dead. He was born in Berlin, was a founder of the Techno and Mega club revolution and has now passed on age only 46.

KLEIST 1 CLOSED

Kleist 1, which had a gay beach bar out the back, has closed and the builders are in. Not surprising really. It's not very good weather for BBQs.

They may reopen the garden when it gets warm again. Kleist 1 was at Kleiststrasse 1, Schöneberg

GOODBYE SABOTAGE

Sabotage staged its final party last month at CSD. We were there and as usual it was kicking with a mixed up for it crowd. We wrote about it in our review (read here). What a shame! Sabotage was a proper berlin underground club. It will be missed.

JÄGERMEISTER OVERDOSE?

On the death in Tramps Berlin police have issued the following statement, "In the night 8th/9th April a 29 year old Rumanian man died in Tramps. Up to now there is no indication that another person was involved. The police assume that this was a suicide. The legal authorities have ordered an inquest."

Witnesses that night have said that, shortly before his death, the Rumanian was staggering about the bar highly intoxicated. DD says: It sounds more likely that it was an accidental alcohol / drugs overdose.

DEATH IN TRAMPS

January 28th we reported the death of a man in Bull. Last Thursday night (8th April) a 29 year old died in Tramps just round the corner. He was well known because he sometimes cleaned the place. A witness said that there was a doctor in the bar and he tried to resuscitate the dead man, but it did not work. The police and ambulance were called and papers checked. Tourists etc without papers were escorted home and brought back with their papers. It all took a long time. Gossip has it that the poor man killed himself deliberately.

Let's not have any more of this, before they close down all my favourite 24 hour bars!

EVERY POOLBOYS NIGHTMARE

Bareback porn star Chad Noel has died of an AIDs related illness at the age of 25. Noel, from Laramie Wyoming, started his career at the age of 19 and soon went on to star in bareback films under the names Donny Price, Craven Cox, Kyle Young. He is dead six years later. In 2004 he was in a scandal over "Every Poolboy’s Dream" when it turned out that one of the actors Brent Corrigan had faked his ID and was underage. CATHOLIC PRIEST BACK STABS MCQUEEN

A Roman Catholic Priest who has a column in the British newspaper, the Daily Telegraph, has done a hatchet job on Alexander McQueen. It drips with hypocrisy and nastiness. 

It starts off saying "It's especially sad that apparently he should have taken his own life, at the tender age of 40 and in the pomp of his career; a creatively unfulfilled but widely loved man, whom darkness enveloped after the loss of his beloved mother." How they know that for sure I don't know but hell, this is modern Daily Telegraph journalism. It then gets "honest" and puts the knife in with the inevitable “but”… 

ALEXANDER McQUEEN COMMITS SUICIDE

"Enfant terrible" of British fashion design, Alexander McQueen has been found dead after apparently committing suicide at his home. The 40-year-old was discovered at his property in Green Street in the West End just after 10am today.

DEATH IN BULL

Last Friday night / Saturday morning (23rd January) a man was found dead in Bull, one of Berlin's sleaziest gay after hours sex bars. A witness said that the man, a local named Patrick, was found in the back room with his hands tied behind his back and a yellow plastic bag over his head. The usual carry on in the bar was severely disrupted while the police were called and conducted some initial investigations. When asked, staff at the bar declined to comment except to express their regret about the sad accident. The police investigation continues.

ALAN TURING

Alan Turing received an official apology for the "appalling" way he was treated for being gay. In 1952 Britain, when being queer was illegal, he was prosecuted for gross indecency. Two years later he committed suicide by eating an apple laced with cyanide. Alan Turing was a brilliant mathematician, one of the founders of computer science and the greatest code-breaker in WWII.

In the Daily Telegraph British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said: "While Mr Turing was dealt with under the law of the time and we can't put the clock back, his treatment was of course utterly unfair and I am pleased to have the chance to say how deeply sorry I and we all are for what happened to him."

TEL AVIV MEMORIAL FROM GAY BERLIN

Berlin this evening: After a sympathy demonstration in Köln yesterday, gay Berlin folk and their friends gathered in Breitscheidplatz by the Gedächtniskirche to remember the victims of the gay massacre in Tel Aviv on Saturday 1st. At 5pm when the event was due to start, it was difficult to distinguish tourists from sympathisers. We had some light entertainment from six hunks doing skateboard tricks, for a moment I thought that was it. But then the 'Smash homophobia' band got drumming, the church bells pealed, the celebs gathered and by quarter past there was a crowd of up to 1000.
