The Tramps / Mario empire is crumbling. First the owner of gay bars Tramps and Marios shortened the happy hours at Tramps and now they've sold Marios. Thank god. It's now called Maxxx and under the management of Klaus. DISCODAMAGED paid a visit to find out his plans. They are having a serious rebuild but remaining open throughout. They even had a building party so the customers could help knock down walls. They're planning to radically improve and expand the play room area (previously it was empty and dismal) and they've already got new comfy garden chairs outside. They'll also be hosting meetings of gay organizations BLF, Rubclub, BOG and some bear club. They're open every day from 2pm to 3am with a happy hour on Tuesdays from 8-10pm and they are having an opening party on 16th October.

Mario's goes 24 hours

From 8th December, Marios is opening 24 hours a day. And they've had a bit of a rebuild. You can do a circular walk round the bar, into the darkroom and back into the bar at the other end. It was quiet (10 customers) on a Friday evening when we visited. On doing the bar / darkroom circum-navigation, Dave said "It's just like the ghost train at Blackpool". Whoooo!

Mario's extended happy hour

Mario's Kneipe is doing an extended happy hour until next Sunday. From 9th - 21st Oct 07 drinks are 2-4-1 from 19.00 to 24.00 everyday. On Sundays you can get even more hammered. Happy hour starts at 16.00. Mario's is at Fuggerstr. 34, Schöneberg.

Mario’s Kneipe - DD Review

This bear bar is part of the Mario / Tramps empire. It's a typical relaxed gay Berlin bearish bar. We have briefly investigated it on the way out of Woof. It gets busy and the big greying crowd are friendly and relaxed. There's plenty of bench tables outside and they were all taken on the warm evening when we passed through. The darkroom was empty.

From 10th December Mario's has gone for 24 hour opening. Drinks are very reasonably priced.
