Kitkat in May

Click the headline for complete events and DJs at Kitkat. Its open Fridays, Saturdays, Sunday mornings. It's all in the gay Berlin diary. Mostly sexy, mixed and calm plus gay club nights Gegen on Friday May 3, gay sex party Fickstutenmarkt on Saturday May 11 and Piep Show on Friday May 31. Club Kitkat is at Brückenstr. 1 Mitte or sometimes they use the entrance round the corner by the exit to the U-bahn.

The Golden Cage Saturday Jan 26

Gegen and Homopatik are getting together for the 'Golden Cage'. It's a  22 hour party at Tresor on Saturday January 26 and they wont tell us who the DJs and artists will be but they do say it will "make Berlin tremble". Click the headline for more. Gegen Masks

Gegen have been putting a lot of teasers out about their next party at Kitkat on November 2. 'Gegen masks' is the name, so we suppose masks should be worn. And they introduce it with the line from RuPaul, “We’re born naked, and the rest is drag”. Is that masks and nothing else then?

Very underground club Gegen returns to MIKZ with two dance floors, art and DJs Warbear, Karina Qanir, D-ZyBell, Silvia Trix, Tom Ass, Ghetona (live), Polina Y, VVicket VV. VVarrickon Saturday 7 May. The party starts at midnight and will go on to the early hours with long queues if you don’t get there early or late. Price 8€.

GEGEN – DD REVIEW

The discodamaged crew went down to Gegen at MIKZ in Revaler Str last Saturday. It opened at midnight and we arrived at 1am. There was no queue and we were searched quite carefully by the doorman. But he was forgiving and friendly. It was pretty empty when we got in so we could take our time and have a look around. There were two large rooms downstairs: a dance floor and a bar and another room upstairs which had the performance art.

By 2am the place was full and the 'Queer Techno' [slow techno to me] was getting everybody going on the dance floor. Loved it. And so did everybody else - and some of them were dressed well enough for Kitkat. We were less impressed by the performance room upstairs, but then we're not arty types, and there were plenty of people up there when we looked, watching a drum performance. Some of us left early just after 3am. By then the queue outside was huge. One of our party Peter, who normally stands about in a club being miserable, also had a great time - so much so that he stayed on until the bitter end.

Bottom line: It was big, good and just like the old gay Berlin underground. We'll go back.

Gegen moved to Kitkat in 2012. It's as good as ever.

GEGEN

A new gay club night caused a stir in Berlin on January 8. Sadly we couldn't get there but Facebook was buzzing with praise and comments in the early hours of Sunday. "The result was wild, beyond any other expectation. 600 beautiful losers haunting the party until 11 in the morning (the dancefloors were packed) as a flying disaster about to come. Sublime." It's Gegen (against or around) and the people behind it did Sabotage previously. They have two dance floors, art, a philosophy and a great dark techno party.
