Berlin gay Stadtfest

Tomorrow Thursday they are raising the gay flag over Rathaus Schöneberg in John-F.-Kennedy-Platz at 13:00. It marks the start of the gay Berlin Stadtfest (aka Strassenfest / gay street party) when 100s of stands and hundreds of thousands of queers get erect in Motz Strasse, Eisenacher Strasse and more.

Stadtfest / CSD - the plan

We've got everything you need to know for the Stadtfest and CSD coming up in June when Berlin goes very very gay. It starts on Thursday June 14 when they raise the gay flag at Rathaus Schöneberg and ends on Sunday June 24 with a few closing parties. Propaganda CSD Truck 2012

Advance 35€ tickets are on sale for the Propaganda CSD truck. Price includes 'all drinks', DJs Stella Destroy, Divinity, Charlet Crackhouse, Niko Kröning and a ticket to the party at Zirkus later that night. Normal price 50€. Tickets here.

BERLIN STRASSENFEST 2011

Berlin Strassenfest was a big gay party on the Discodamaged stand as ever. Saturday was quite civilized. Krista from Green Tea interviewed Roi and me (listen on the fuzzy thing about Slingking's teddy bear and more) and she helped us and he helped blind lesbian Swedes who were looking for a party and we were delighted to meet all of you who visited.

Sunday it all went to pot and was virgin on rape. Peter disgraced himself by getting drunk before midday. Well done to Marco for getting him out the back and in the gutter to throw up. But then Marco got a bit tipsy too encouraged by Gerard who bought ice and coke to go with the vodka. Thanks also to Alexander, Matthes, Maevon, Andreas and Jeremy but not Thomas GvA who was so discodamaged that he didn't even do his shift. Hey, that's one good thing about Discodamaged - it's a valid excuse for not getting to work. What happened at the rest of the Strassenfest? Tell us.

STREET PARTY FULL PROGRAM - THE FEAST OF LOVE

Feast of Love: that's what they are calling the 19th Berlin gay street party on 18 / 19 June.  Expect 450,000 visitors and well over 100 stands, including shows, food and drink in Motz-, Eisenacher-, Fugger- and Kalckreuth strasse's. Strictly, it's the 19th lesbian gay Stadtfest and the lovely Berlin lesbians always come out in force. Patrons are our good gay mayor Klaus Wowereit and ex-mayor of Schöneberg Elisabeth Ziemer and they will be at the official opening on Saturday 18 June on the main stage.

June is the biggest month of the year for Gay Berlin. We've not only got the Strassenfest on 18 and 19 June and CSD / Berlin gay pride and the alternative Berlin gay pride on 25 June but also two public holidays: Himmelfahrt (ha ha, Ascension day) on Thursday June 2 and Pfingsten (Pentecost) on Monday June 13. CHARITY ART AUCTION

Berlin Avant-Garde at Nollendorfstrasse 11, Schöneberg are having an exhibition of 32 artists from 17 June and they are auctioning all the works at 7pm on the 21^st. It's all in aid of Mann-o-meter's yoof program. More here.

STREET PARTY CHURCH OPENING

The 2011 Stadtfest (gay street party) will officially open in the Zwölf-Apostel-Kirche (12 apostles church) 'at Nolli' at 19.30 on Friday 17 June. Acthally that's not really at Nollendorfplatz, it's at the other end of Else-Lasker-Schüler Str. No sex in the pews please! On Facebook here: 

 

GAY NIGHT AT THE ZOO

Gay night at the zoo are getting ready for their party on Wednesday 22 June between the Strassenfest and CSD and they're already selling tickets. The party in the zoo will be opened our good gay Mayor Klaus Wowereit with Gerhard Hoffmann introducing a concert by Luci van Org, Kim Fisher, the 50-piece Big Band of the BVG and special guest Kay Ray. All that is followed by DJane Monique of SO36's Café Fatal plus of course food, lions, tigers and more. Click here for tickets from 19€.

BIG NIGHT AT THE ZOO THE MOVIE

It was the Strassenfest finale last night with the gay night at the Berlin zoo. We went down and made a short clip or two of the big BVG band and took some snaps of the animals. Strassenfest tomorrow: The party starts on Saturday morning when the streets of Schöneberg open to more than 100 stands, five stages and 100,000's of queers and lesbians and friends.
