MARIA TO CLOSE

Maria is to join Bar 25 and other party venues on the banks of the Spree in central Berlin in oblivion. It never was a gay club but it had a great vibe (usually) with great dancing and great electro and techno. They have a closing weekend 20th and 21st May and will party on right up to the closing date. Click the headline for their closing message in Geman.

Bar 25 safe for another year

The judge has spoken. Bar 25 is secure for another year. We're looking forward to 2009 already.

Bar 25 appeal

Bar 25, hip, liberal, creative and welcoming to all the people who love Berlin, is about to be closed down. City owned BSR (the rubbish people) want them to get out by the end of the year. It will be another waste land on the river bank for many years. Bar 25 are appealing to the Berlin Senate and the Fiedrichshain-Kreuzberg council to let them stay. Beach bars reopen

The beach bars are reopening this weekend. Bar 25 (pictured) and White trash on the North side of the river, Club de Visionaere, Arena swimming pool and Kiki Blofeld (down an alley way by Tresor) on the South side. Follow the links to find them on the gay berlin map.

Or just take a walk along the North side from Warschauer Str U-bahn down Mühlenstrasse and holzmarkstrasse. You'll see the last big part of the Berlin wall and find some parties on the way.

Bar 25 - DD Review

The entrance to Bar 25 is a hole in the wall between Janowitz Brücke and Ostbahnhof. It is a chilled, mixed bar on the river Spree. Entry is 2.50€ each and they say you have to be members next time. I don’t think it’s really important. We had arrived mid-Sunday morning.

The place is mostly open air runs from Saturday evening until Monday morning only in the Summer. You can get a stamp to get out for a few hours sleep. The music on Sunday morning / afternoon was chilled and very dance-able. There were lots of sexy gay men and their friends dancing, lying about on sofas and chilling. Very chatty, very friendly and it was a lovely sunny day. Bar 25 is the best Sunday chill out venue. Only downsides are the stinking toilets.
