If you feared clubbing in Paris was as happening and welcoming as well your stereotypical Parisian, you'd be right.  Over to our man in Paris who writes:

On Saturday 21 January the French police raided Paris' brand new gay venue and it would appear that they have forced the club to close its backroom.  Well anyway for the Pagano night on the 21st January and also for the Beyond visit last Saturday the backroom was most definitely closed.

I hope of course that they can get it opened again but it just goes to show that Paris, whilst only 2 hours away from London, is in terms of its policing of the gay community, in the stone age.

TEAM DAMAGED ON TOUR: LA DEMENCE CRUISE

A quick reminder, whilst we've a shaky internet connection in Mykonos, that we are still away - a full Damaged service will resume Saturday when we return and if we can string a sentence together.

What's the cruise like? Imagine a full on club with almost no security and being free to do what you like, when you like to who you like. It's brilliant. There was no warm-up, the party started immediately and so much so departure was delayed due to our one and only g casualty. He survived, nobody noticed we hadn't actually left the harbour?! The staff didn't know what hit them and the first three days were quite frankly mental:) The partying didn't stop until our arrival in Malta where we arrived early as we needed an ambulance for a guy who'd injected his cock with something and had a hard on for 16 hours and it was turning blue - as soon we docked, it went down and the ambulance was sent away!

For a boat of 1200 partying gays there's been very little drama other than those two incidents - superb. We'll have a full on report on the madness of the La Demence with comedy details when we return.

Wednesday was the gang's last day and they decided to drive up into the mountains in the interior and try to see the Milky Way. They hired a car (40€ and very informal) and drove for about half an hour towards Fatage in the interior. Click the headline for the celibate story.

Bob and Buck were rightly dissatisfied with their room. It was smaller than Jack's and had a smaller balcony, so they asked for a change and got the best room in the hotel. It has the biggest balconies, with a view over the back entrance and the pool. From the balcony they can see who is cruising the street, who's showering, who's leaving or entering the hotel and generally command the whole situation and intervene when necessary. After moving rooms they take a walk down to the beach – it's not all sex sex sex.

MADRID GAY PRIDE WEBSITE DOWN

Berlin gay pride / CSD this weekend, then Paris gay pride the next, then London and Madrid. Which one to go to? We went to check out the Madrid gay pride website at www.madridgaypride.com to see what was on. Great music and images on the intro page, but when we hit the Skip button we got a message saying "Monthly web and ftp traffic exceeded". Tsk, tsk – too popular.

DEATH FOR GAY SEX?

Over in Uganda the parliament is debating a new anti-homosexuality bill. Being gay is already illegal there and the new bill proposes to toughen the laws. MP David Bahati, a member of the ruling party, has proposed that having gay sex with disabled people, under-18s or if you're HIV-positive should be punishable by death.

Meanwhile in Jamaica they're giving a big debate on revising their constitution. Not much prospect of improving the lot of gays there either. Last week Prime Minister Bruce Golding said the country's parliament would not recognize same-sex marriage while he was in power. He said "I will not accept it that homosexuality must be accepted as a legitimate form of behaviour or the equivalent of marriage."
