GEGEN INFOS:
Venue: MIKZ Berlin - Revaler Strasse 99, Modersohnbrücke Ecke.
Date: Saturday 7th May 2011 . 23:59 > Open End
A suspended garden of evil flowers, obsessive thoughts. Sirens seducing your senses, poisoning your mind, abusing your organs, dropping you out. Where you can find yourself in a near death apnea, remembering futures in your own mute film.
"Falling Floating Flying" Warbear, Mein Schwules Auge #7 - KonkursBuch
Where biology is not destiny, Gegen rises.
In its third celebration, we evoke a myth embodying a strange life form as a fluctuating icon. S/he is her/e, beast and beauty, the fragmented monster of celestial swings; the homeric siren. They flew over the beaches of southern Europe as Hades - king of the dead souls – own army, captivating and manipulating, playing and dancing, seducing and killing, on their journeys. The Sirens gave... up their lives when they failed the mission to annihilate Ulysses (Odysseus!) by throwing themselves in the Mediterranean sea and mutating to a state of half fish – half human: The Mermaid. The queer innuendo is traced in her mythology as a monster polyphony, an open fe/male hairy body against the primate of the pure, the man, the warrior, the savior. As no more heroes are allowed in a free space, queerness becomes a mesmerizing strategy of the pleasure in killing history through subliminal beat emissions. The dance of divine devices, an unresolved contradiction for times yet to be, a blue velvet sea or the prime ambush on the primacy of humanism. Kaltes Klares Wasser are dripping beardscapes where identities open in waves. Come be hypnotized, cultivate the beauty of danger, dance with your doppelgänger in the constitution of the new body, a sublime chant too ecstatic to experience, too absolute to die for.
GEGENTANZ:
Two special guests and future figureheads of sound constitute the fe/male line-up that makes up half of the mermaid body of the GEGENTANZ dancefloor. The first, D-ZyBell, a german producer and DJ from UnterNull Records roster is playing with elixirs of life. Her productions are pure dancefloor assassinations blowing dancers minds from the shores of Kit Kat Club to the islands of Tresor. This alchemy of maps and tracks is reinforced by our second guest, Silvia Trix, a gender activist extraordinaire in the world of techno. Fighting in a male dominated italian dj-world, Silvia Trix distilled her sound poison out of the riots and parties that birthed her. Her new release for Stencil Records "Obsessions" features a poem by Warbear and it says all you need to know. This will be the climax of the back2back-dj-set with six decks based on samples and tools called TWB (TrixWarbear) that is going down as the sun rises somewhere in a universe far beyond. Karina Qanir, the most powerful dj in the Berlin perimeter, will act as the mistress of an exterminated sea with bass monster waves, as homeric visions through the rain of myths is projected by Super & Boxikus VideoDesigns.
THE DARKNESS:
Half Beast, The Darkness is dancing in the depths of mythic queerness. In her ichthyic half, the supreme court of enchantment is practicing lucid dreaming with the sounds of Polina Y - Mother figure of foreign affairs and tropical beaches. She is the matrix of Drop Dead Festival and a muscular force of death punk ritual music. Add to that a set from the elusive yet strangely recognisable Vvicket VV. Vvarrick bringing the endorcistic toolbox full of contorted beats of death and suffering, a live set from post stepping electroacoustic beat wizard Ghetona alias Linus Gabrielsson and a body centric performance dealing with trauma and tragedy by Liad Hussein Kantorowicz and you would think that this was pushing the boundaries of what your astral body can take. But then you're forgetting about the Grand Magus and Scarlet Witch of The Darkness – Tom Ass, resident maker of spooky sounds and Kate Ehrhardt trip guide and producer of visions. This sinister six invites you to their strange laboratory of hybrid creatures where we cry, dance and laugh as godlike beasts devour the human parts of our profane bodies.
GEGENART:
Gegen is honored to host CORPUS TRIP, a massive site-oriented installation of LUCA DONNINI; one of the most influential contemporary italian photographers. Luca Donnini works on forgotten bodies. The brute, inconstant garden of being as a statement of seduction constructing a multiple persona: the mermaid to be. The installation is part of a plan to intoxicate European civilization infiltrating 25 metropoles through galleries and clubs. Mistress of Video Design, Giuliana Deni aka Nuns With Guns is a video artist flying in directly from Detroit for an alchemic experimentation: turn architectures into liquid. The emotion of the party will be traced by the photography of Paola Verde; founder and promoter of the Art Gallery: X Lab Factory, while Nina Reisinger, Gegen Graphic Designer and Xerox Artist, is bringing dead spaces to life through her poster art.
