This is at least the third time since it was unveiled in May 2008 that the gay memorial in Tiergarten has been vandalised. Hey Nazi boys, it’s not even news now. Go play with your toy soldiers. On Monday the cultural city secretary Andre Schmitz demanded better protection for the memorial. "Still more importantly however, clear signals should be sent by citizens that they are against the brown shirts [Nazis]", he said. Unidentified vandals had damaged the memorial again on Sunday night. And there was another homophobic assault, this time in Charlottenberg.
queer.dereports that 5 young men attacked two gay guys in Kantstrasse before fleeing towards Wilmersdorfer Strasse U-Bahn. The incident, occurred around midnight, was clearly homophobic. Fortunately the gay men only suffered minor injuries.
