Propaganda are taking the month off in January and they need a re-think. The club was empty when we popped in a couple of weeks ago. Maria are running Club Transmediale (CTM) Every day from Friday 23rd – Saturday 31st.
 
For something really special lab.oratory are having a slime party on the 24th. We’ve been told that they have a big pool of lube and you smear it all over each other.

Berlin Hilton is not at nbi tonight, it's at HBC  Karl-Liebknecht-Str. 09 – Alexanderplatz from 22:39 with a load of DJs and a '15 other little rooms where you can play your favourite games.'

Eddie Izzard in Berlin?

Hilarious British comedian Eddie Izzard is planning to do a gig in German in Berlin soon. Izzard, who is acting a German officer in Tom Cruise's Valkyrie movie, told WENN, "They say the Germans have no sense of humour and I'm going to prove them wrong by doing gigs in Berlin." SPUNK PAINTINGS AT SCHWUZ

Martin von Ostrowski, famous for his painting of Adolf Hitler made from human shit, has a new exhibition at the gay Berlin museum behind club SchwuZ. GAY MEMORIAL VANDALISED AGAIN

That nice gay memorial in Tiergarten has been vandalized again. It shows a video of two men kissing. The police say that somebody probably threw a stone at the glass window! You would have thought they would have put super strong glass on it after the last time. Following the attack some 100 protesters, including Berlin’s openly gay mayor, Klaus Wowereit, took to the streets to speak out against intolerance and homophobia.

UN GAY RIGHTS DECLARATION

A UN declaration to decriminalisation homosexuality is likely to be put to the general assembly sometime this week. Estimates vary, but between 75 and 90 states still criminalize being gay – that’s at least one third of all countries. The sentence is death in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Yemen, Sudan, Mauritania and parts of Nigeria and Pakistan Not so many condemn lesbians. We wonder why girl on girl sex is favoured so much.

France and the IDAHO (International day against Homophobia) headed by Frenchman Prof. Louis-Georges Tin have pushed the declaration onto the agenda. Unsurprisingly, the Vatican and the Organisation of Islamic States are leading the fight against it.

Guido Westerwelle

Guido Westerwelle is leader of Germany's opposition Free Democrats and the current Leader of the Opposition in the Bundestag. If, as expected, Merkel's CDU party wins the next elections, due Sep 27th 2009, he would normally become Foreign Minister as leader of a coalition party. Westerwelle is openly gay and has said that he would  cut aid to countries that discriminate against women or sexual minorities. He told Stern magazine: "The great majority of the [German] population has absolutely no problem with my private life, It would be good if our foreign policy would bring this spirit of German tolerance to other countries." After claiming Marlene Dietrich, Magnus Hirschfeld (the founder of modern sexology and gay liberation), Klaus Mann, Conrad Veidt, Lawrence Durrell, and the King of Yugoslavia as only some of her lovers, Anita Berber died in 1928 at the age of 29. Bar 25 appeal

Bar 25, hip, liberal, creative and welcoming to all the people who love Berlin, is about to be closed down. City owned BSR (the rubbish people) want them to get out by the end of the year. It will be another waste land on the river bank for many years. Bar 25 are appealing to the Berlin Senate and the Fiedrichshain-Kreuzberg council to let them stay. DD REVIEW: GMF

Discodamaged hasn't been to GMF since it moved over a year ago.  We re-visited it at Weekend, it's new location, on a quiet Winter Sunday and we weren't expecting very much, but we were in for a pleasant surprise. The new location is in a 15 storey office block near Alexander Platz. You can spot it by the silhouettes of the dancers up in the sky. Weekend is on the 12th and 15th floors. A bank of 8 lifts greet you in the lobby and you are whisked upstairs by the efficient and friendly lift attendants. These guys serve you all night as you yo-yo between the 12th and 15th floors. Both floors are equipped with dance floors, bars and large comfortable seating areas. On one floor smoking is allowed and on the top floor there is a terrace. It was closed but we hear that it's great, with spectacular views, when it's open in the Summer.

The DJs on the night were Rummy Sharma (Delhi/India), Namito on the 12th floor "Weekend" and Polla Disaster on the 15th. It was full but with plenty of elbow room and seating space. Mikki the manager modestly said “We aren’t very busy tonight”. On the 15th, smoking, floor the music varied from danceable anthems to, well, chart hits. On the other floor the music was harder and better.  The crowd were young (20’s), enthusiastic and friendly. Some find them too queeny. The toilets were cruisy and clean – they really need a darkroom but that’s probably impossible as the venue runs many other straight nights.

Definitely worth a visit.

We seem to have overlooked Klub Kino International. It's every 1st Saturday in the month so the next one is on the 6th December and it's at Karl-Marx-Allee 33, Friedrichshain.
